What can people do to help preserve the environment for the next generation?

I'm glad to hear you are interested in helping to protect our environment! There are lots of ways to help preserve nature for future generations, most of which fall into the categories of prevention or reparation. Acts of prevention are those which help to avoid pollution or degradation of the environment. I'm glad to hear you are interested in helping to protect our environment! There are lots of ways to help preserve nature for future generations, most of which fall into the categories of prevention or reparation. Acts of prevention are those which help to avoid pollution or degradation of the environment. This includes acts like recycling and composting waste rather than sending it all to a landfill, using renewable energy sources, and choosing to walk or bike as opposed to riding in a car. Acts of reparation are those which are intended to help fix some of the damage that has already been done to our planet. This can include planting trees or bushes to help clean carbon dioxide from the air, picking up litter in your community, and donating to conservation efforts.

There are plenty of things you can do in your life to help preserve our environment, it mostly depends on the amount of time and money you can spare. One way that people can help reduce the amount of deforestation of our planet is to buy second-hand books or use an e-reader to download digital copies of books. Recycling is probably the easiest thing you can do to help prevent environmental degradation, but you may also choose to boycott companies which do not practice environmentally-friendly production or advocate for the use of more eco-friendly materials. For example, plastic-like material made from corn could replace commercial, non-biodegradable cups in the food service industry.

People should also consider trying to live in harmony with what nature already has to offer in the form of light, air, and water. Instead of using air conditioning in the warm seasons, open the windows to let in a breeze! When reading indoors, try sitting by a window for light rather than using an electric lamp. Collecting rainwater to use in gardening is a great way to reduce reliance on municipal water services.

In chapter one of The Great Gatsby, what advice does Nick's father give him? How does this make him a good person to tell this story?

Nick says that his father advised him that, before "criticizing anyone," he "remember that all the people in this world haven't had the same advantages" as Nick.  As a result, Nick claims that he is "inclined to reserve all judgments," presenting himself to the reader as a fair and dispassionate arbiter of character, and thus, a reliable narrator.   The problem is that Nick immediately reveals himself as anything but reliable, as he then launches... How and why does James Gatz become Jay Gatsby? Describe the young Gatsby/Gatz.

James Gatz, a poor Midwestern boy of probable Jewish lineage, becomes Jay Gatsby, a presumed WASP and wealthy socialite, when he moves to New York City and acquires his fortune. It is wealth that has allowed Gatz to transform himself into Gatsby. However, those who know his background (e.g., Daisy and Tom Buchanan) never allow him to forget that he is nouveau riche -- that is, an upstart who has just recently made his fortune,... Gatz became Gatsby through determination and discipline. At the end of the novel, the narr...

Explain and discuss how the definitions of freedom change for the nation, for the freedmen and for southern whites after the Civil War.

After the Civil War, the definition of freedom changed in the nation, as slavery was ended with the 13th Amendment to the Constitution in 1865. The practice of slavery was disallowed, but definition of the freedom that would take its place was a subject of controversy, ongoing debate, and even violence in the decades to come.  For freedmen, freedom often meant reconciling with their families, who were broken up by slavery; choosing which church to...
